One of the most important ingredients for success in any party band is the ability to entertain. This aspect of The Topcats is
easily handled by Rob Schulte. Whether behind the drums or "out front", entertaining comes natural
to him. After all, his father, God rest his soul, was a professional clown! Rob's antics and the ability to "shake his bootie" give every night's performance a boost that is important to the success of The Topcats.
Below, Rob shows off his famous surfboard routine. In the first photo, Rob is surfing on a surfboard that is resting on two trash cans
that have drum triggers built into them. After he wipes out on the surfboard, Rob plays "Wipeout"
on the trash cans! The second photo shows Rob leaping off of the cans at the song's finale!
The Topcats' "bread and butter" are performances in night clubs and public functions. The band has been known to travel from Texas to North Carolina but now try to stay as close as possible to the New Orleans area. The Topcats enjoy a certain notoriety in clubs and casinos throughout Louisiana and Mississippi, so they don't have to travel as they once did, which is easier on the band members and their families. The photos below show the members of the band in a typical public performance!
Check out the sound clips of the three party songs below! These songs, plus others, appear on "Party With The Big Dogs". The band chose these three songs for their diversity. All three songs are different styles - classic rock, rap, and eighties teckno!
