Pat's Weekly Diary - May 6th, 2008
Stepbrothers seems to be getting better and better every week. It was really packed in there this past Wednesday. Thursday night we were at Boomtown Casino on the westbank. It started out really slow. I mean really slow. Maybe 20 people. But after we started it began to pick up and actually turned into a good night. Friday night we returned to Chalmette for the Tomato Fest at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. There was the threat of rain and we actually had a few small showers throughout the evening that made it a somewhat small crowd of people. But we played our full scheduled time. We've been playing this fair off and on for many years. We'd like to thank the folks at OLPS for their great hospitality. Every time we play for them they give us a private break room and fill it up with more food and drinks than we could ever mange to eat. And I'm talking good food. Charbroiled oysters, BBQ Shrimp sandwiches... They're not just giving away hot dogs and hamburgers down in 'Da Parish.' Saturday we had a wedding downtown at the Ritz. A very small, nice and easy affair. Sunday we played the Lil' Red Church fair in Destrehan. We could not have asked for a prettier evening or a better crowd. We've been closing this fair out for years. Monday was Cinco de Mayo at Cucco's near Vets and Transcontinental. Yet another gig we've been playing for at least 12 years. Maybe longer. It was a beautiful evening. Lots of kids on stage with us. We love playing these outdoor fairs. Well as long as the weather is nice. So we have one night off then return to Stepbrothers on Wednesday. We hope to see you there.
